Hal Leonard, the world's largest publisher of music performance and instructional materials, has acquired Groove3, a leading website specializing in music technology tutorial videos. The announcement was made by Jeff Schroedl, Executive Vice President of Hal Leonard, and Asa Doyle, CEO/President of Groove3, and Antony Livoti, Vice President of Groove3. The agreement is effective immediately. Since 2003, Groove3 has been a trusted website for musicians who need to learn about the latest music technology. They create top-notch video tutorials for Logic Pro X, Pro Tools, Studio One, Ableton Live, Reason, Plug-Ins, mixing and mastering and more. Groove3 sells subscriptions as well as a la carte purchases and also have their own e-book platform. Groove3 has already been working with Hal Leonard for content for their tutorials and printed materials, but now other Groove3 content could become new products for Hal Leonard as well.
Jeff Schroedl commented, "We're excited to work with Groove3's talented development and programming group to expand our online e-learning presence. We're also looking forward to creating new products with their authors and producers."
"We've enjoyed working with their team on many projects already and look forward to pooling our brain trusts for some amazing new ventures!" said Asa Doyle. "It's great to partner with another group that shares our passion for music education and technology."
Groove3 is based in Austin, Texas, and will maintain its separate office. Founders Asa Doyle and Antony Livoti, along with other employees, will continue running Groove3 and will become involved with other Hal Leonard businesses in the future.
