Gretsch® today announces the expansion of its Player Edition lineup with all-new models as well as new color additions. Designed for the working professional, Players Edition instruments feature classic Gretsch tone and cutting-edge features for maximum power, comfort and versatility.
Wrapped in a new Round-Up Orange finish, the G6620T Players Edition Nashville® Center Block Double-Cut with String-Thru Bigsby® features a beautiful maple top, body and headstock with a chambered spruce center block that enhances body resonance for more organic tone and comfortably lighter weight.
For the sonic muscle and finesse, a pair of High Sensitive Filter’Tron™ pickups delivers authentic Gretsch power and articulation.
Other premium features include an ebony fingerboard with 22 jumbo frets and aged pearloid Neo-Classic™ thumbnail inlays, tortoise pickguard with Gretsch logo, nickel hardware and the classic Gretsch horseshoe headstock inlay over a flamed maple headcap.
A new Black Falcon has also landed with the G6636T Players Edition Falcon™ Center Block Double-Cut with String-Thru Bigsby®.
Decked out with striking gold sparkle binding, gold pickguard and gold hardware, the G6636T is an innovative version of the venerable Falcon, with a slightly smaller 16” double-cutaway body and a chambered spruce center block that enhances body resonance for more organic tone and comfortably lighter weight. A pair of High Sensitive Filter’Tron™ pickups delivers authentic Gretsch power and articulation.
The G6636T also features a 12”-radius ebony fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and pearloid Neo-Classic™ thumbnail inlays, master volume with treble bleed circuit, string-thru Bigsby® B7GP, anchored Adjusto-Matic™ bridge, Graph Tech® TUSQ® XL nut and jeweled G-arrow control knobs.
The Silver Sparkle G6229 Players Edition Jet™ BT with V-Stoptail features a select mahogany body with maple top that produces a strong, balanced mid-range. Its chambered body delivers a smooth attack and extended bandwidth that is remarkably wide and harmonically rich.
The G6229 is fueled by Gretsch Broad’Tron™ BT65 pickups that meticulously capture the guitar’s sonic palette and reproduce powerful mids, extended lows and an exceptionally clear, yet smooth high end. The result is the perfect mixture of wall-shaking power and full-spectrum fidelity that delivers unparalleled overdrive and shimmering cleans — all at the stomp of a switch.
Other premium features include a no-load master tone pot with Squeezebox paper-in-oil capacitor and master volume with treble bleed circuit for complete tonal control, full-accessed rolled cutaway and lower set mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard with 22 jumbo frets and aged pearloid Big Block inlays, V-Stoptail tailpiece, Gotoh® locking tuning keys, Graph Tech® TUSQ® XL nut, strap locks, anchored Adjusto-Matic™ bridge, nickel hardware and black pickguard with Gretsch logo.
Sharing the same cutting-edge characteristics as the Silver Sparkle Jet, the G6228 Players Edition Jet™ BT with V-Stoptail is now available in a rich and vivid Candy Apple Red finish, while the G6228FM Players Edition Jet™ BT Single-Cut with V-Stoptail sees a new Crimson Stain finish over its highly-figured flame maple top. Both models feature a gold pickguard and nickel hardware.
Also available in new colors, the G6659TFM Players Edition Broadkaster® Jr. Center Block Single-Cut with String-Thru Bigsby® and G6659TG Players Edition Broadkaster® Jr. Center Block Single-Cut with String-Thru Bigsby® feature a slightly smaller, 14” single-cutaway body and chambered spruce center block that enhances body resonance for more organic tone and comfortably lighter weight.
A pair of U.S.-made Full’Tron™ pickups deliver full-spectrum sonic range with a growl unlike any other pickup, in addition to classic Gretsch chime and balance with a dash of extra-mid concentration for powering through overdriven and distorted passages at full volume.
The G6659TFM comes in a new gorgeous Bourbon Stain flame maple finish with a matching headstock and nickel hardware, while the G6659TG commands center stage in a stunning Azure Metallic finish with matching headstock and gold hardware.
Other premium features include an ebony fingerboard with 22 jumbo frets with aged pearloid Neo-Classic™ thumbnail inlays, string-thru Bigsby® B7CP vibrato tailpiece, anchored Adjusto-Matic™ bridge, Gotoh® locking tuning keys and Graph Tech® TUSQ® XL nut.
With roots in the past while maintaining an eye to the future—from the cavernous clubs of Liverpool to the main stages of festivals around the world, Gretsch has been the voice of inspiration, personal expression and musical invention. It’s no accident that the sound of a Gretsch has been heard loud and proud on some of the most pivotal recordings ever created. The instrument of choice for musical revolutionaries due to their rich, full sound, smooth playability and boldly classic visual style, Gretsch and rock ‘n’ roll have been—and always will be—inseparable partners.
