Coleman has also served as Dee Dee Bridgewater’s bassist and music director from 2002 until 2010.
Since 2002, Coleman has served as Dee Dee Bridgewater’s music director. He has also branched out to collaborate with musicians from various musical backgrounds, including a variety of African musicians. Currently, Coleman is on a world tour with Sting, with whom he has also recorded two CDs and a DVD.
“We’re truly thrilled about Ira Coleman coming on board,” says Lyris Hung, D’Addario Bowed Product Manager. “Coleman’s abilities make him an asset to any group. He is a phenomenally versatile and tasteful musician, and we look forward to working with Mr. Coleman!”
Says Coleman of his D’Addario strings: “I am currently very excited about the new Zyex for bass. The strings have the fast response of a gut string with the clarity and sustain of a steel string.” He continues, “They are more elastic than steel core strings and are very smooth. I like the gauge relationship from E to G. Finally, the best of both worlds! Pure delight from peg box to tail piece. Thank you, D‘Addario.”
