Conn-Selmer Instruments Resound in Youth Music Program Overseas
The band project began in 2007 and currently has 495 students participating. A physical school of music in Loboc has been established for the program, and the band performs every Friday and Saturday at the Loboc Children’s Theater. The project, through education and performance, allows the community to preserve its cultural heritage while providing educational opportunities to its young students.
The group has also performed throughout communities in the Philippines and China. Their travels to Shanghai, China in 2008 and 2o09 were by invitation to perform in the International Children’s Choral Contest and Shanghai Tourism Festival. In 2010, the group represented the Philippines in the World Expo in Shanghai. Their performances, which incorporate popular music and dance, can be seen on YouTube . A sample of their musical performances is featured on the following link at www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ye1PjnePXQ
