Leading International Studio Percussionist Martin Verdonk Joins Tycoon Percussion

29 September 2009 — Tycoon Percussion is pleased to announce the addition of internationally-acclaimed world percussionist Martin Verdonk to its growing roster of artists/endorsers. Verdonk, who was born on the Caribbean island of Curaçao (one of five island areas of the Netherlands Antilles, off the Venezuelan coast) and currently resides in the Netherlands, has performed with world-renowned musicians including Steve Winwood, Lionel Richie, Chaka Khan, Incognito, Richard Bona, James Taylor and Paquito D’Rivera while recording solo albums featuring top drum artists such as Horacio Hernandez, Danny Gottlieb, Orestes Vilato and Walfredo Reyes, Jr. Martin is a first-call live and studio player throughout the European music community and is receiving major attention around the world for his fresh, exciting and innovative approach to hand percussion.

Using his unique musical and cultural experiences, Verdonk has been able to seamlessly combine a variety of authentic Latin influences and instruments with contemporary World Music sounds and rhythms. Beyond developing new concepts and technique, Martin has also collaborated with Tycoon to develop several new instruments that have recently been added to Tycoon’s world percussion collection. Among the Martin Verdonk Signature Series of personal percussion instruments are the Easy-Shake and Swing-Shake shakers as well as the studio-style “Las Vegas” tambourines.
