Shure Montreux Jazz Voice Competition Now Accepting Entries
Developed by Shure and the organizers of the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2003, the competition, now in its eighth year, provides aspiring young jazz vocalists with the opportunity to compete in front of an international audience and a renowned panel of judges. Under the patronage of Quincy Jones, world-renowned artists like Angélique Kidjo, Al Jarreau, and Solomon Burke have presided over the judging in previous years. Prizes will be awarded to the competition’s finalists at next year’s Festival, including an invitation for the winner to perform at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2011.
The Montreux Jazz Festival will accept entries from candidates who were born after January 1, 1975, and the closing date for applications is April 15, 2010.
In addition to sponsoring the competition, Shure will enter its 16th year in supporting the festival as Official Technical Supplier of Microphones and Wireless Microphone Systems.
