Split E and Straubinger’s New Phoenix™ Pads Now Available for Avanti Flutes
Conn-Selmer Inc. and Mr. Brannen are conscientious about producing only the best quality flutes at Avanti’s affordable price point. “Until design, machinery, and craftsmanship are in pure positive alignment, we would not even think about releasing a flute or an option on a flute to the public,” said Valerie Simosko, Marketing Director, Flutes at Conn-Selmer Inc.
Flutists worldwide will begin receiving the flutes ordered with split E, plus an additional benefit, which is a Conn-Selmer exclusive. Avanti Flutes has been granted exclusive rights to market C-Flutes equipped with the Straubinger PhoenixTMFlute Pad for two years - another first for the Avanti Flute. When David Straubinger’s shop burned in October, 2008, one set of his newly patented pads survived unscathed—the first set of pads made for the Avanti Flute. Destined to be used for Avanti, and seemingly rising out of the ashes of his shop, the pads were immediately named the Straubinger Phoenix Pad™ after the mythical bird that rises from its smoldering ashes to be reborn.
Ideal for use on production flutes, the Straubinger Phoenix™ Flute Pad’s outer felt covering, wraps around the outer rim of the pad instead of stopping at the pad’s edge. This, plus other special design features allows a sure seal, yet the pad produces a similar superior response, longevity with regards to adjustments, and the freedom of musical expression afforded by the traditional Straubinger™ Pad.
