Indy Jazz Fest Under New Ownership

INDIANAPOLIS, June 23rd, 2009 –The Indy Jazz Fest is entering it’s 11th season with new management presenting the best of local, regional and international jazz talent. Throughout the year Indy Jazz Fest will also focus on presenting jazz concerts in and around the city of Indianapolis at area parks as part of the Indy Parks concert series, plus a wide array of education programs in schools.

The Indy Jazz Fest will take place September 21st through September 27th in a variety of venues. The first four days there will be performances in jazz clubs and theaters across the city including The Jazz Kitchen, The Chatterbox, Clowes Hall, and the Madame Walker Theater. Friday, September 25th David Baker is scheduled to present a special tribute to Indianapolis jazz trumpet legend Freddie Hubbard at the Madam Walker Theater. Saturday, September 26th and Sunday, September 27th, the Indy Jazz Fest moves to The Lawn @ White River State Park, Sunday being a Family Day, for outdoor activities and concerts.

In addition to the special Freddie Hubbard Tribute presented by David Baker on Friday September 25th, the world’s premier Latin Jazz musician, Poncho Sanchez and his Latin Jazz Band have been booked. The full line-up of regional, national and international jazz artists will be announced in late July/early August at a gala event here in Indianapolis.
