Walnut Is Tops. Soundgear Limited Edition Models [Summer NAMM 2008]

United States
English
2 Jul 2008 — What has allowed the Ibanez Soundgear Models, not merely to survive into their 21st year, but to flourish, was the groundbreaking combination of comfortable curvaceous body, active electronics and a thinner, fast-playing 24-fret neck. That and the fact that Ibanez is constantly throwing different features into the mix to keep things interesting.

For Summer 2008, Ibanez keeps the Soundgear concept interesting with two limited production models, a 4-string and a 5-string with mahogany bodies and walnut tops, the latter feature setting them apart from other Ibanez offerings. Aside from complementing the Soundgear curves visually, the walnut top enhances the warmth of the mahogany body.

The 4-string SR750 lists for just $749.99, not too pricey at all, given the impressive list of specs, which includes Bartolini MK1 pickups and 3-band EQ. The 5-string SR755 feature all the same good attributes plus the added low B for $799.99. Both models are finished in a rich Brown Sunburst Flat (BSF).
