October 15, 2007 — At the Intel Developer Forum in Taiwan, Intel for the first time demonstrated a laptop PC with a quad-core processor, or four processing engines per chip. Just 72-hours out of the design lab, the notebook ran a demo of the game Quake Wars. Intel will introduce a variety of notebook processors throughout 2008 under its “Montevina” codename family that takes advantage of the company’s shift to 45 nanometer manufacturing and reformulated transistors.
