NEW YORK, Oct. 9, 2007 — Guitar Center (NASDAQ-GTRC), America’s leading professional audio recording equipment and musical instruments retailer, announced today that it will be an authorized reseller of Dell® desktop and notebook systems, powered by dual-core AMD (NYSE: AMD) processors. Guitar Center worked closely with both companies to create desktop and notebook computers specifically designed with the power, stability and reliability needed for use in the professional digital audio recording market sector.
With the addition of Dell computers to the product assortment at Guitar Center’s 214 stores, as well as guitarcenter.com and Musician’s Friend, recording professionals in the music, post-production, and other pro audio sectors will have a one-stop resource for purchasing everything necessary to create a complete digital recording environment.
Commenting on the Dell announcement, Bryan Bradley, Guitar Center’s Director, Professional Audio and Recording Merchandise stated, “After extensive evaluation of several manufacturers” personal computing products and carefully looking at the evolution and expansion of the digital recording process, we found that Dell best suits our customers needs. As the nations leading supplier of products for the professional audio community, we are pleased to provide our customers access to AMD technology and Dell products and the outstanding customer experience they provide.”
“Musicians are increasingly sophisticated in how they buy and use technology,” said Phil Bryant, vice president of Dell consumer sales. “Customers shopping at Guitar Center stores will be able to experience the Dell direct advantages when purchasing systems to create and share music. We’re happy to be working with Guitar Center to make it easier for musicians at all levels.”
“Musicians have long suffered getting a personal computer to behave like an audio recording device that doesn’t intrude upon the creative process,” said Charlie Boswell, director of Digital Media and Entertainment for AMD. “At AMD, we’ve learned much by engaging with the industry’s top audio professionals for years. Working with our partners at Dell, we’re now able to lend our expertise to help deliver a specific audio-recording appliance that meets the discerning standards of customers who have made Guitar Center the supreme musical instrument and pro audio retailer in the world.”
