Sabian Makes Presence Known At 2007 Download Festival
MEDUCTIC, Canada (July 18, 2007) — SABIAN, the award-winning cymbal company, made its presence felt at the recent Download Festival, the three-day annual rock music event in Donington Park, England, by hosting an exhibition trailer that allowed drummers to get loose before a performance. In addition to the exhibition trailer, nearly 30 SABIAN-endorsed bands performed at the event and an entire product display with SABIAN’s wide array of new products was on hand for the event. SABIAN has supported the Download Festival every year since its inception and this year they wanted to offer a little something extra, according to Jerome Marcus, SABIAN’s European artist relations manager.
“SABIAN gets involved with these events to not only support its endorsers, but to support the percussion community. We felt by offering an area for drummers to hammer away and get warmed up we’d do exactly that. As it turns out, over the three day period the SABIAN exhibition trailer turned into the gathering spot for all drummers,” said Marcus.
Added Chris Stankee, SABIAN’s U.S. west coast artist relations manager: “Download was about great music and great bands. It was amazing to hang with the drummers performing this year. All the drummers were watching each other’s sets and the SABIAN trailer was a great spot for everyone to meet up and hear some new pies.”
SABIAN-sponsored drummers performing at the event included Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), Vinny Paul (Damageplan), Bob Bryar (My Chemical Romance), Andols Herrick (Chimaira), and Roy Mayorga (Stone Sour). All performing and attending endorsers visited the facility, making it a meeting place for drummers throughout the entire festival.
