“Retro” H-Ligature, Rico Ligature, And New “Over-Molded” Cap From Rico [ Summer NAMM 2007 ]

United States
H-design Ligature Applies Equal Pressure to Reed while Cap is Functional & Attractive

FARMINGDALE, NY, April 20, 2007 — Although acclaimed for constructing the finest reeds, Rico remains committed to re-examining such critical components as ligatures and caps. Thus, the new H-ligature incorporates the desirable attributes of the well-known Harrison ligature, used by many of the world’s greatest reed players, while providing subtle, yet effective enhancements. The H-ligature is made to Rico’s strict manufacturing tolerances, while retaining a “retro” appeal that harkens back to the Harrison ligature.

The new H-ligature holds the reed firmly to the table of the mouthpiece, assuring better contact and reducing leaks along the side rails. For increased durability, the ligature brackets have been reinforced, adding additional strength. A choice of silver or gold plating enables the player to personalize their sound. Each precision-made ligature holds the reed securely, providing equal pressure at each of four contact points. Available for all saxophones and clarinets, the new H-ligature is a superb example of Rico attention to detail.

The H-ligature is available packaged with the new Rico Cap—distinctive in terms of aesthetics and function. Molded from a durable synthetic, the cap features an ultra-comfortable, “over-molded” texture. In addition, the construction is such that it will accommodate a variety of inverted-style ligatures, ensuring a snug, scratch-free fit.

To address the mid-price market, Rico has also developed the new Rico Ligature line of affordable ligatures. Each features the two-screw inverted design that is favored by advanced-level reed players. Similar to the H-ligatures, the design incorporates four points, applying equal pressure to the reed without damping vibrations. Available for saxophones and clarinets, the Rico ligature is available in nickel plating and is sold as an individual ligature or packaged with the new Rico cap as a set.

“The new Rico ligature is a great value for musicians of all levels” says Rico Product Manager, Robert Polan. “The new Rico Cap is eye-catching and fits snugly on the mouthpiece. It’s the first of its kind, offering a novel appearance and practical features previously unavailable in a mouthpiece cap.”

Alto sax and Bb clarinet H-ligatures and Rico ligatures and cap will be available in July 2007. Additional voices will be available in November 2007.
