Gallows Guitarists Smash World Record
On Friday 8th June in a secret location outside of Birmingham, England, Gallows guitarists Laurent Barnard and Steph Carter teamed up with The Brighton Institute of Modern Music and Laney Amps to set a new world record.
The guitarists powered up and plugged into a mammoth 12 Laney GH100L and TT100H heads running through 12 Laney TT412S cabs each loaded with Celestion Vintage 30s. They then proceeded to play for sixty seconds at 132.5 decibels (accurately logged by a dB meter).
120 decibels is the threshold of pain and 130 dB is equivalent to standing next to a jet engine. Previously the record for loudest band was set by Manowar at 129.5 decibels.
Video footage and pictures of the record can be viewed at Laney’s Website
New release Abandon Ship is available now on Warner Bros Records and the band are currently touring the US as part of the Vans Warped Tour.
