Cleary has five albums to his credit: (Alligator Lips and Dirty Rice (1994), Moonburn (1999), Jon Cleary and the Absolute Monster Gentlemen (2002), Pin Your Spin (2004) and Do Not Disturb (2007), a 4-song EP of covers and originals released during the 2007 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
In addition to fronting his own band, the Absolute Monster Gentleman, Cleary is a key member of Bonnie Raitt’s band and has collaborated with the gifted singer and guitarist on several albums and tours, including a track on the upcoming Goin” Home: A Tribute to Fats Domino which also features artists such as Neil Young, Willie Nelson, Paul McCartney, B.B. King, Toots & The Maytals, Tom Petty, Lucinda Williams and others.
Commenting on the Trion mics, Cleary said, “I used the mics on a couple of the tunes on the EP. Great tools. Also my duet with Bonnie Raitt for the Fats Domino record is being mastered this week. It came out really well and I used the CAD Trion 8000 mic for my vocals on that recording.
“We used the Trion 7000 ribbon mic on the Tuba,” Cleary continued, “and also on the horns for the track I produced for Willie Nelson. I’m not sure when the album is due to be released, it looks like it’s going to be a double C.D. All the proceeds are going towards rebuilding Fat’s Dominos ninth ward home and other Katrina related charities.”
