Elixir® Strings Sponsors Raffle, Distributes Strings to SXSW Attendees

AUSTIN, TX, May 21, 2007 — Anton Gonyon, an aspiring musician who recently relocated to Austin, TX — the renowned live music capital — is off to a good start: He is already the proud owner of a Taylor GS Series guitar equipped with Elixir® Strings.

Elixir® Strings, the pioneer of long-life string technology, co-sponsored the Taylor GS Series raffle with Taylor Guitars at Maggie Mae’s on Austin’s famous Sixth Street during the 2007 South by Southwest Music and Media Conference. In addition to the Elixir® Strings distributed to all attendees, Gonyon was delighted to go home with a new Taylor guitar.

“I’ve only owned a handful of guitars,” says Gonyon. “I’ve never been able to afford a very good one. Sometimes I played another person’s really nice guitar, but the Taylor takes the cake by far. I’ve never won anything like this — I still can’t believe it.”

With a premium acoustic guitar and Elixir® Strings, Gonyon is now perfectly equipped to hit Austin’s numerous live music venues and “open mic” opportunities. “I knew about Elixir,” he explains, “but had never played them or even tried many different brands of strings. You definitely feel the difference with Elixir. I’m not used to strings being so soft. You can play for hours and it won’t hurt your fingers at all.

“Each note sounds like a studio recording,” Gonyon marvels. “I am completely in over my head with this divine gift. But needless to say, I have been and am continuing to put it to good use.”

Of the Taylor GS, Gonyon adds, “The first thing you notice about the guitar is the smell — you can literally inhale the quality craftsmanship even before touching it. I will never forget Elixir® Strings’ generosity.”

About Elixir® Strings

Elixir® Strings is the pioneer in coated string technology and is available in two string “flavors.” Ultra-thin NANOWEB® Coating provides the bright tone and punch of uncoated strings, yet keeps their lively tone three to five times longer than ordinary strings. The thin coating is nearly undetectable — providing the feel of traditional strings. Elixir® Strings with original POLYWEB® Coating also sound great three to five times longer than ordinary strings, have a balanced tone with smooth response, feel comfortably smooth, and reduce finger squeak. Elixir® Strings are available in a full range of gauges for acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass, banjo, and mandolin.

Today, Elixir® Strings are installed as original equipment by a growing list of discriminating electric guitar and bass manufacturers including Ibanez, Tom Anderson Guitarworks, Brian Moore Guitars, Carvin, Melancon Guitars as well as premium acoustic guitar luthiers such as Taylor Guitars, Santa Cruz Guitar Company, Alvarez-Yairi, Lakewood Guitars, RainSong Graphite Guitars, Carvin, and Goodall Guitars. Elixir® Strings are endorsed by popular artists such as Melissa Etheridge, Train, Dave Mason, Michael W. Smith, Jim Messina, Christopher Cross, Bob Seger, and Drowning Pool.

Elixir® Strings are manufactured by W.L. Gore & Associates, the company widely known for such innovations as GORE-TEX® fabrics.
