CHICAGO, 3 July 2007, Lakland Musical Instruments — Spinal Tap’s Derek Smalls (aka Harry Shearer) shows off his custom Lakland “burning world” bass guitar to be unveiled at the July 7 Live Earth concert in London. Conceived by Shearer and created by Lakland in conjunction with artist Gary Weidner, the bass depicts an exploding world. Says Lakland chief Dan Lakin, “We’re grateful for the opportunity to create an instrument that is also art that underscores the important message of Live Earth.”
