The Reader’s Choice Is Seagull Artist Peppino D’Agostino
Montreal, Canada - April 26th, 2007 - Italian born acoustic virtuoso and Seagull guitar endorsee, Peppino D’Agostino, wins the 2007 Guitar Player Reader’s Choice Award for Best Acoustic Guitarist, as voted by the thousands of readers who filled out ballots on-line or by mail to the respected magazine.
“I’m so very honored by this award and very thankful,” says Peppino.
Signed to Steve Vai’s Favored Nations record label, Peppino blends an array of open tuning and fingerstyle techniques, which culminate into a seductively melodic and percussive style. His alluring guitar style has wowed audiences around the world playing such festivals as the renowned Montreal International Jazz Festival as well as playing to crowds in Europe, Moscow, Istanbul, the United States and Canada. His Canadian travels also included a successful tour with the mobile guitar festival, International Guitar Night.
To achieve his acoustic sound, Peppino reaches for the craftsmanship and tonal excellence of his Seagull guitars. A loyal and longtime player of the Seagull brand of acoustics, Peppino has since had the opportunity to help develop his own signature model, known as the Seagull Artist Series Peppino D’Agostino CW model. This guitar features an extra-wide neck for fingerstyle players, solid rosewood back & sides, select pressure tested solid spruce top as well as the aesthetic beauty and craftsmanship of the Seagull Artist series models. “Seagull truly makes amazing acoustic guitars and they sound and play like no other. This is why I’ve been playing my Seagulls for so many years,” says Peppino.
His friendship with current Huey Lewis & the News guitarist, Stef Burns, led the two of them to collaborate on the 2005 release called “Bayshore Road”. The process was so enjoyable that they also plan to record an upcoming album to be released in 2008. Also, look for a new vocal CD to be released from Peppino in 2008.
