Framus Custom Shop Offers New Pickup Options [ Musikmesse 2007 ]

28 March 2007 — The Framus Custom Shop has a rich arsenal of special options available for the discerning guitarist. The products of two well-known pickup brands are now added to the already ample list of options: the aggregates of the EMG company, which is known world-wide since the mid 70’s for their low-noise pickups, as well as the pickups of Larry DiMarzio, one of the well-known pickup gurus, who has also been in this business for more than 20 years.

With the exception of the neck- and bridge-humbuckers for 7-string guitars (EMG 707 / EMG 81-7), all EMG-pickups are also available cream-colored, besides black. For the neck position, the humbuckers EMG 58, EMG 60 and EMG 85 can be selected, the EMG 81 for the bridge position. Besides the humbuckers, there are following single-coil pickups available: EMG S, EMG SA and EMG SLV, as well as the vintage types EMG SV and EMG SAV, for which the pole-pieces are visible.

Also DiMarzio is primarily known for their double-coil pickups. The first really known DiMarzio-pickup was the Super Distortion, a pickup with a higher output by which the clean tube-amps can be driven more into saturation. All DiMarzio-pickups are black with the exception of the PAF®-Classic, which comes with a nickel-cap. Besides diverse high, medium and low output humbuckers (among others the Super Distortion, Fred, Norton and the several PAF®-models), also the two single-coils HS-3 and Virtual 54PRO are available as an option in the Framus Custom Shop.
