Framus Morrigan Pro / Custom [ Musikmesse 2007 ]

English
28 March 2007 — With the new Morrigan, Framus is extending its comprehensive line of electric guitars. It is offered in both Pro and Custom models and is particularly tailored to the hard rock/heavy metal guitarist: With the Morrigan, Framus has a series of electric guitars with a 6-in-line headstock, uniting tradition with modern design. The Basswood body is elegant, with bevelled top flanks and deep cutaways, optimal playing comfort and ergonomics are guaranteed. The bolt-on and patented neck-body joint (bolt-in) enables a powerful sound, long sustain, high stability and unhindered playing comfort up to the highest positions.

The Morrigan offers all features, which are expected of a modern instrument for this target audience: Floyd Rose vibrato with locking nut (Pro: Framus Floyd Rose, Custom: original Floyd Rose), long 25.5“-measure (648mm), flat fingerboard (12“) with jumbo frets for ultra-rapid playing, Sharkfin inlay and Seymour Duncan pickups.

The Pro- and Custom-versions are primarily different in the pickup-equipment and -wiring. With two humbuckers and a single-coil (SH-6 Distortion™ at the neck, SSL-6 RW/RP Custom Flat Strat in the middle and STB-6 at the bridge), the Pro offers five sounds, hum-free in each position of the 5-way toggle-switch. Thus, three humbucker- and two single-coil-sounds are practically and rapidly recallable. The Custom-version is equipped with the active Dave Mustaine Live Wire™ set, which is controlled by a pre-amp system in class-A circuitry.

Concerning the wood configuration, the Pro-model traditionally offers Rosewood in terms of the fingerboard, whereas Framus uses the proven Tigerstripe Ebony for the more exclusive Custom version. A special finish is offered for the interested customer- especially for the Morrigan Pro: for the first time Framus is offering a mat and opaque finish, tailored to the expectations of the metal players. Factory-made, the Custom-model is covered by the extremely robust High Polish finish, to withstand the tough tour business and sweaty gigs.
