HK Audio ConTour Series Cabinets And D.A.R.T. Monitors At The Hardrock Café In Lisbon

English
26 April 2007 - The Hard Rock Café in Lisbon holds a special place in the worldwide chain of Hard Rock Cafés. The venue is located in the center of Lisbon and the highly ornate façade of the building invariably catches the eye of passers-by. The interior design is similar to that of others in the chain, with rare collector’s items of rock history hanging on the walls, such as autographed guitars, gold and platinum albums and stage clothing belonging to artists like Tina Turner, the Rolling Stones and David Bowie. In addition to its own restaurant/bar area for food and drink, the Lisbon Hard Rock Café has its own merchandising shop, provides a live DJ service on the premises, and is a highly active performance venue for Portugal’s hottest acts. Just recently the Lisbon location received an award for being the best Hard Rock Café worldwide.

While most of Hard Rock Cafés in the chain have their sound and lighting equipment installed by an American company, the Lisbon affiliate decided to have the Portuguese HK Audio distributor ALRICA Lda install its sound system.

The main installation consists of ConTour™ Series speakers: four CT 112 cabinets and four CT 118 subwoofers, supplemented by D.A.R.T stage monitors. The CT 112 is a speaker system that can be switched between passive or bi-amp mode. With its 12″ neodymium speaker and BEM-based 60°x40° Horn with 1.4″ driver, it excels at speech intelligibility and high output levels. Paired with the front-loaded 1x18″ CT 118 subwoofer, it makes a compact yet powerful club system. Since the Lisbon Hard Rock Café hosts a great number of live concerts and parties, this system together with the D.A.R.T monitors is an ideal match for it, as all components are versatile and lightweight, can therefore be set up and torn down quickly, are wired up easily, and sound huge.

D.A.R.T monitors integrate a high-grade preamp, controller, active crossover, two power amplifiers, a 12″ speaker and a 1″ CD horn in a compact, low-profile monitor cabinet. The remarkably even frequency response makes it possible to achieve high volume with low feedback. D.A.R.T is optimized for use as a stage monitor, but the multi-functional cabinet shape and the integrated DuoTilt™ stand-mount allow it to be used for many other applications as well—one of the reasons why the Lisbon Hard Rock Café chose it. Thanks to its integral microphone preamp, it can literally be used for any occasion—a DJ program, event announcements, or the many live shows held there. Due to its extreme flexibility and the broad palette of applications it can serve, D.A.R.T was the top choice of the best Hard Rock Café in the world.
