“These are the guitars and basses that established ESP as a high-performance alternative to more established manufacturers when they were originally released,” says Jose Ferro, ESP vice president. “They’re the instruments that put ESP on the map. We’ve had dozens and dozens of requests over the years to revisit these classic models, and we feel the new Vintage Series goes above and beyond all expectations.”
Each instrument in the ESP Vintage Series is distressed by ESP’s expert luthiers to show years of natural wear and tear, with the look and feel of a vintage instrument along with modern refinements that improve its playability and feel.
The Vintage Series includes the new ESP Vintage Plus (BLK/M), which features a distressed black finish with a maple fretboard, along with an antique white 3-ply pickguard. Using a familiar 25.5” scale, it offers a lightweight and resonant alder body. A thin U-shaped maple neck with 22 XJ frets has familiar dot inlays and a bone nut. Chrome hardware (including Gotoh Magnum Lock tuners and a Wilkinson Vintage bridge) is included, with a three-pickup Seymour Duncan SSL-1 Set and volume, tone, and 5-way selector switch.
The ESP Vintage Plus (3TB/R) is a guitar in a similar body style, but offers a distressed three-tone sunburst finish and a maple neck with rosewood fingerboard.
Two basses are also being offered in the Vintage Series. The ESP Vintage-4 (BLK/M) features a comfortable 34” scaled alder body finished in distressed black, with an antique white 1-ply pickguard. Its bolt-on maple neck has a maple fingerboard and dot inlays. Chrome hardware includes tuners and bridge/tailpiece by Gotoh, while the pickups are the Basslines SJB-2 (B) / SPB-2 (N) “Hot” Set with two volume and one tone controls.
Finally, the ESP Vintage-4 (3TB/R) is a classic bass similar to the model above but finished in distressed three-tone sunburst with a rosewood fingerboard and a 3-ply tortoiseshell pickguard.
