Berklee’s Battle Of The All-Female Bands Lineup
Boston, MA, March 5, 2006 — Berklee announces the lineup for round 1 of Berklee’s Battle of the All-Female Bands, Friday, March 9, and Saturday, March 10, at the Berklee Cafe, located at 150 Massachusetts Ave., Boston, MA. The shows are all ages and free to the public. Doors open at 9:15 p.m., and the show begins at 9:45 p.m. each night. Berklee’s nine trailblazing all-female groups - each band features students or alumnae of the college - are competing for the distinction of opening for the original female trailblazers FANNY. Complete schedule of bands is below.
Two bands from each night will advance to the final competition at the Middle East nightclub in Cambridge on Saturday, April 7 (1:00 p.m. doors, all-ages), with a wild card fifth band to be chosen based on the high scores from both nights. Audience vote will count for half of the final score.
This contest is being held as part of the ROCKRGRL Women of Valor Award evening honoring pioneering band FANNY, at the Berklee Performance Center, Friday, April 20, presented by WMBR’s Lost & Found. Fanny, the first all-female band to release a full-length album on a major label (Warner Brothers/Reprise Records) released their self-titled debut album in 1970. The winner will open the show that night and have a chance to be booked by student concert organizers attending the Verge College Music Conference.
