Alex Acuna’s “The Rhythm Collector” Out Now From DW DVD

1 February 2007 — In his first instructional DVD in over ten years, Alex Acuna takes viewers on a personal journey from his homeland in Peru to the studios and stages of world. This cinematically inspired DVD reveals some of Alex’s most cherished rhythms as he demonstrates their traditional origins and how they apply to drum set and popular music. “The Rhythm Collector” is filled with personal stories and biographical detail that is both entertaining and inspiring.

Among the many included performances is Alex’s most recent original jazz project Canela, featuring Patrice Rushen, Abraham Laboriel and Justo Almario. There’s also a high-energy live rock show with Latin Alternative superstars Kinky, as well as some of Alex’s favorite percussionists and musicians assisting him to perform the rhythms he’s collected over a lifetime.

The DVD features a host of special features including a photo gallery, a backstage look at the making of the movie and bonus performance footage. Filmed in high-definition and captured in digital multi-track sound, “The Rhythm Collector” is a complete drumming experience.

The Rhythm Collector retails for $39.95 and is available now at authorized DW DVD retailers and online at www.dwdrums.com. Running time is 67 minutes with 90 minutes of total content and the disc is encoded for all regions around the world.
