SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (January 18, 2007) — Charvel is proud to welcome the legendary Grover Jackson back to the guitars that changed the industry. The first in a new Grover Jackson Legacy Series, Charvel will produce 20 recreations each of five classic guitars that helped define the Charvel brand of the 1970’s and “80s. These 100 Masterbuilt instruments will be painstakingly replicated using the original tooling and techniques, and will be certified by five original Charvel employees including Todd Krause, Mike Shannon, Tim Wilson, Mike Eldred and Grover Jackson himself.
“From humble beginnings in 1978, Grover Jackson and Charvel forever changed the way people built and played electric guitars,” commented Fender Custom Division Director of Sales and Marketing, Mike Eldred. “Grover taught me, and many others in this industry how to build guitars, and I’m personally and professionally honored to be able to commemorate Grover Jackson’s return to the family with these legendary instruments.”
Charvel’s San Dimas, Calif. manufacturing facility was a melting pot of creative gui- tar innovation in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. Under Grover Jackson’s inspi- ration and guidance, Charvel positively exploded with custom graphics, colors, unique electronics and breakthrough manufacturing techniques. These Grover Jackson-era guitars ended up in the hands of some of the world’s most influ- ential guitarists, including Eddie Van Halen and Randy Rhoads. So it is fitting that Jackson’s name and signature finally return to the Charvel brand.
The first five hallmark guitars recreated for Charvel’s Grover Jackson Legacy Series include the “San Dimas Offset Bullseye,” “San Dimas Spider Web,” “San Dimas Diagonal Stripes,” “Star Gold Bolt,” and “Star Spiral Checkerboard.” Featuring distinctive Charvel colors and artwork, and 100- percent authentic hardware and specifications, this extremely exclusive col- lection of classic guitars will be limited to just 100 instruments worldwide— sure to please discerning players and collectors alike. Each instrument will come with a special certificate hand-signed by Grover Jackson, Todd Krause, Mike Shannon, Tim Wilson and Mike Eldred.
The Grover Jackson Legacy Series will be available to reserve orders at the January 2007 NAMM Show in Anaheim, Calif.
