Guitar Legend Uli Jon Roth Installs Powertune Self-Tuning Guitar Technology On His Favourite Fender Stratocaster [ Winter NAMM 2007 ]
Hamburg, January 3rd, 2007/ Tronical GmbH — Today Tronical GmbH announced that Guitar Legend Uli Jon Roth of Scorpions fame will present the new Tronical Powertune self-tuning guitar system at the 2007 NAMM trade fair in Anaheim, California. Roth is widely known and respected in the business as one of the most influential innovators of the instrument.
In Anaheim, he is going to present the new self-tuning guitar technology, which has just been installed on his favourite white Fender Stratocaster. This is the legendary instrument, which Roth played on all of his Scorpions and Electric Sun albums, including rock classics “Tokyo Tapes”, “Virgin Killer”, “Sails Of Charon”, and “Fire Wind”.
Powertune was invented and pioneered by young German technology whiz kid Chris Adams, who formed the company Tronical Group.
The novelty of the system lies in the fact that it is guaranteed to work with almost any kind of guitar with a minimum of modification. Streamlined to perfection and hardly noticeable at first glance, there is no need to drastically modify existing guitars, something that most lovers of guitars dread more than anything. All that is needed is a set of power tuners, a special bridge, and a volume knob, which superbly directs the electronics. The installation process is pretty quick, straightforward and decidedly not messy. It can be done by anyone who is a little bit practical. The guitar then tunes itself within 2-5 seconds perfectly to any kind of preferred tuning.
Uli Jon Roth: “This is something I totally believe in. I can’t remember getting as exited about new technology as I am about this one. When Chris installed the Powertune on my guitar, and I saw how beautifully it worked — it felt better than Christmas. This is just amazing — pure genius! I know that this is a monumental step forward in guitar technology, and there is no doubt that sooner or later it will conquer and dominate the market. People will so get used to it that eventually everybody will want one.”
